MANILA, Philippines - Sarah Geronimo recently launched a new venture: a bubble popping game named after her fans, “Sarah G. Popsters”. In partnership with Xeleb, a local mobile games company centered on celebrity content, the mobile game features a fun user interface and new songs of the pop star princess which are unlocked each time a level is completed.
“I really wanted my game to be something all my fans enjoy,” says Sarah. “I also wanted the game easily understood as soon as you start playing it. It’s a game you can enjoy whenever and wherever you are. Aside from songs that you’ll need to unlock, there are several other surprises along the way.”
Touted as the Philippines’ “Pop Star Princess,” Sarah has been in the showbiz industry for over 12 years, after breaking into the scene and being named the grand winner in Star For A Night in 2003. Her first album was a bestseller and garnered two Awit awards in 2004. She won accolades for her rendition of Celine Dion’s Forever’s Not Enough which was named Best Performance By A New Female Recording Artist, while her original song Sa Iyo was named Best Dance Recording Of The Year.
““Sarah is the biggest pop star in the Philippines. We’re absolutely excited to launch her game,” says Raymond Racaza, CEO of Xeleb. “Sarah G. Popsters” was created as an avenue for her fans — who are incidentally called Popsters — to connect with her as an all-around performer, taking them on a digital concert tour,” he adds.
Xeleb Inc. is the first mobile games company that seeks to create, define, and lead the celebrity games space in the Philippines. It combines two of the biggest fractions in Filipino pop culture, celebrities and mobile devices, turning it into a form of entertainment like no other. With the game, Xeleb continues its aggressive roll-out of celebrity games. In five months, the Xeleb has launched five games: Anne Galing with Anne Curtis, Adventures of Kuya Kim with Kim Atienza, Trip Ni Belle with Isabelle Daza, and Market Master with Erwan Heussaff.
Xeleb is a subsidiary of Xurpas (PSE: X) and was incorporated in June 2015. Its principal shareholders include Anne Curtis, Kim Atienza, Isabelle Daza and Erwan Heussaff. Sarah G. Popsters is now available for download.
