Hashtag of the Month:#SentiSabado
MANILA, Philippines - Forget #FollowFriday or #ihatemondays, Pinoy tweeps are taking Twitter Saturdays by storm via #SentiSabado, a whole day of tweeting dedicated to nostalgia and reminiscence started by social activist Tonyo Cruz. Placing fifth last week among Twitter’s worldwide trending topics, #SentiSabado induced suppressed and treasured memories to float in cyberspace as Pinoy users tweeted what they recall from eras past. The topic last week was elementary school days, and tweets ranged from terror-teacher tactics to TV crazes during those times. @ryan_chua tweeted how his notes were full of FLAMES and HOPE love tests, while other users shared sentiments on bullies and enterprising teachers.
Boyband Member of the Week: Rich Cronin
Since writing odes to summer girls and spitting classic lines like “scooby doo wop and scooby snacks,” Rich Cronin tried to reclaim his lost pop stardom with a rap duo, and then eventually an LFO reunion (not to mention an epic ONTD post). But what many didn’t know is that he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005. Last Thursday, news of the Lyte Funky One’s demise hit the internet, along with messages of condolence from members of *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. He died in the hospital, after suffering a stroke. So much for #SentiSabado.
Song of the Week: ‘Bop It’ By Showbiz Couple
Yes, we are running a blind item. This might be well for tomorrow’s The Buzz or Showbiz Central but you might need ample time to think it over. Matinee Idol has finally come clean with his notorious relationships, admitting on TV that Teeny Bopper is his serious fling. Of course, that caused speculations that MI was still involved with Estranged Beauty Queen when things got pretty serious with TB, but all those are now things of the past. The latest: showbiz mules caught the couple seeking medical attention when TB’s vajayjay trapped MI’s schlong while they were doing it. Yes, it can happen—to anyone. News on how the two were separated is still unclear, but the last we heard is that surgery might’ve been involved. Ouch.
Tweeps of the Month: Mother Lily And Tita Annabelle
Ruffa and Raymond Gutierrez confirmed that their mom is on Twitter, and Mother Lily is busy tweeting about the nth installment of Shake, Rattle and Roll. If Pinoy Twitterverse went dead silent after Kris’ absence, now it’s back on high tide with the latest addition of Annabelle Rama and movie mogul Mother Lily Monteverde. As of press time, Tita Annabelle already has 20,000 followers, while Mother Lily has about the same. If a movie will be made about the two’s presence on Twitter, it will be titled “Tweet, Rattle and Dong.”
Obituary: Nora Aunor’s Golden Voice
After what seemed like an eternity, Nora Aunor decided to go back to the concert scene last week by staging a comeback concert for Filipino fans overseas. Everybody was excited to hear the voice that popularized the lines, “My brother is not a pig!” (Yes, another #SentiSabado moment right there) But everybody was dismayed as well when it was revealed that a botched cosmetic procedure damaged the Superstar’s vocal chords. So what is a concert then if the star of the show has broken vocal chords? Humming is a talent, and Nora Aunor is the Superstar. Merong himala!
Orgasm of the Week: Rain
“Rain is coming. Rain is coming. Rain is coming.” It feels like we’ve been hearing about Rain edging to an orgasm forever. Tonight, finally, the big release. In “Intensity,” a show with U-KISS and our very own Christian Bautista, Rain finally lets loose. Let’s hope the rubber’s strong enough to hold all that pent-up rain water.
