Supreme top 10: Twihards, Gleeks, and Kris Aquino's marriage

Kris stops tweeting

MANILA, Philippines - After being forced to answer one fan on Twitter as to why the first-daughter-turned-first-sister-and-possibly-senator-someday celebrity wasn’t mentioning her husband James Yap in her tweets, Kris Aquino this week said she will be suspending her Twitter account to “keep what is left of her privacy.” Kris was reportedly reprimanded by P-Noy about this, with Kris quoted as tweeting, “Sometimes being quiet (obviously difficult for me) is the only prudent course when u r the sister of the country’s president elect.” Surely the Pinoy Twitterverse will miss her, since it’s gonna be quiet now. With the luck that the Aquino family is currently getting, perhaps Kris is a bit regretful of taking the pak’ua. Remember Feng Shui?

Charice joins ‘Glee’ (for real)

Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed that Pinoy singing dynamo Charice Pempengco is joining the award-winning Glee as a recurring character next season. In what will undoubtedly be a down and dirty throwdown of VH1 Divas Live proportions, Charice is playing a foreign exchange student with enough vocal firepower to threaten resident powerhouse Rachel. Meanwhile, Glee creator Ryan Murphy will think up more stunt casting to distract from the fact that the show’s plot and continuity are about as deep as Kurt’s voice.

‘Party Pilipinas’ goes 3D

Yemas and pastillas vendors ran out of cellophane last week when massive panic buying occurred in the streets as Party Pilipinas aired on 3D via free TV. The historic first in the Pinoy TV history though may not go into history books as easy as Lapu-lapu did since the “authenticity” of the 3D effect is challenged left and right, red and blue. Techies say it wasn’t real 3D, while others claim it was primitive 3D. Our neighbor as well was utterly disappointed after making 15 pairs of 3D glasses, only to find out the effect did not work on his black-and-white television set. Whatever it was, we’re happy to see that Jaya can audition for a role in Avatar 2.

Inaugural fiesta on

Succumbing to tradition, P-Noy will have to endure an eternity’s ride from Malacañang to Quirino with GMA by his side. Everybody’s abuzz about his inaugural — the DPWH reportedly spent P700 million for the grandstand’s renovation. A street party is also set at the Quezon Memorial Circle where P-Noy is to do a Nelson Mandela — reports say sister Kris has arranged a production number to the tune of Kim Chiu’s Kinamay Lang Umayos Na. Because now that he’s president, ang haba na ng hair n’ya!

Presidential wet dreams

We’re not about to be the 54th member of the “NOYNOY MARRY SHALANI NOW NA” Facebook group. If he’s not ready to commit, it’s best not to rush into a marriage only to emerge with a never-ending stream of mistresses to rival Erap’s ocean. Instead, we’re going to ask him to take his time but make a good decision. France? It has leggy former model Carla-Bruni-Sarkozy. Those Brits? They have cute-in-a-soccer-mom kind of way Samantha Cameron. The Philippines? We have no one. We are not being shallow. In fact, we are being rather strategic. If you want a country to unite, you need to unite it under one flag. And if you want Filipino men’s flags to stay up and erect, you need a hot first lady pumping fresh blood into the republic. So maybe we are going to be the 54th member of that Facebook group. Noynoy, marry Shalani. Now na.

‘Eclipse’ opens June 30

If you have been waiting to see half-human, half-werewolf Jacob half-naked half of the time in this movie, then fret no more since Eclipse will be showing in theaters beginning June 30. This third installment of the glittery fairy — err, vampire debonair saga is set to deepen the story’s plot (we didn’t know it had one), as Bella embraces her fate and chooses her man. A twist that fans won’t see coming? Angel Locsin enters the scene as a lobo and convinces Jacob to move to the Philippines. Before they could settle down though, they get lost in Tondo and end up azucena.

Tunnel Movie

Harvey Weinstein, watch your back. After endangering the jobs of Clive Davis (music business) and Anna Wintour (publishing), the Internet’s got its greedy web cam lens on you. In yet another step in democratizing the production of media, The Tunnel Movie has launched the 135K project. Everyone is welcome to invest in the movie by buying as many frames as they want, which costs a dollar each. 135,000 frames is equal to 90 minutes and 90 minutes is the length of the film they want to make. By using the Internet instead of fighting it, the project opens up a stream of possibilities for the medium. It might just revolutionize the way we create film! Well, that or it ends up the next “In Rainbows,” which was fun, innovative, but essentially pointless (unless you happen to like great music).

No glove, no love

The way RockEd’s Safety Series sees it, if you like it then you shoulda put a glove on it. On June 19, politicians like Risa Hontiveros and Danton Remoto, rock stars like Buddy Zabala and Diego Mapa, magazine writer and HIV advocate Wanggo Gallaga, and showbiz royalty Pia and Saab Magalona helped launch the series with the viral video “Stay Safe, Philippines.” Continuing RockEd’s goal of educating people through unconventional means, the anti-HIV campaign is a partnership between RockEd and the Department of Health, now under the controversially awesome Esperanza Cabral. Welcome to the fight!

Musikito

An ensemble of musical prodigies aged 11 to 16 will get their Edelweiss on when they take Austria by storm at this July’s 2010 Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival. Composed of underprivileged kids from Malabon, the Musikito String Orchestra beat the odds, now able to compete in the music competition, thanks to Vienna and kind sponsors. Bowled over by the ensemble’s talent, Vienna was able to gather funding for their trip in less than two minutes. It’s what the Mother Abbess calls climbing every mountain and fording every stream. Captain Von Trapp would approve.
