MANILA, Philippines - The Catholic Women’s Club (CWC) recently held its annual bazaar Casa y Jardin at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila. The bazaar is very popular among shoppers and is a major fund-raising activity of the club to raise money to support its numerous charitable activities such as scholarships for poor and deserving youth, care of abandoned children and the elderly, housing, and a myriad other charitable works.
The bazaar was also the occasion to launch limited-edition plates of the CWC featuring painter Galo Ocampo’s rendition of “Mother & Child,” a painting depicting a morena Filipina in a traditional dress with tapis of bright stripes. The haunting glow of a halo serves to illumine her innocence, beauty, dignity and mystery.
Other artists featured in the plates of CWC Mother & Child series include Fernando Amorsolo, Tam Austria, Ang Kiu Kok, Manansala, Betsy Westendorp, Blanco, Lulu Coching, Botong Francisco, among others. The limited-edition plate is a popular collectible of many bazaar goers and other patrons of Catholic Women’s Club’s charities.
