MANILA, Philippines - The iconic Singapore hawkers market can now be experienced locally this holiday season as the Zonta Club of Muntinlupa and Environs (ZCME) holds its 2nd Hawkers Bazaar from Nov. 22 to 23 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cuenca Covered Court inside Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa.
Touted as the ultimate dining and shopping experience, this one-of-a-kind bazaar and crafts event offers high-quality, low-cost, easy-to-find budget dining and shopping in a hygienic setting reminiscent of the Singapore attraction.
With a good mix of more than 100 hawkers, the bazaar offers dry goods, holiday decors, food stalls of varied cuisines in turo-turo fashion from Ilocos to Cagayan de oro and around Metro Manila, travel gift vouchers, among others.
Activities include a pet show with a pet buffet, birds on beautiful cages, antique finds, craft demonstration spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) featuring artisans from the Calabarzon area who will sell their crafts, elegant accessories from Cebu, woven mats from Samar, baskets from Bohol and Bicol, seasonal fruits, organic greens and ornamentals from the Southern Luzon gardens will be available.
Main sponsors are Peugeot Cars, TECH 1,distributors of CCTV and two–way communication radios, Pioneer Insurance and Best Electronic Automation Control (BEAC) and generous donors.
Highlights are a cooking demonstration by restaurateur Glenda Barretto on Nov. 22; chef JR Royol , winner of Master Chef Philippines, Nov. 23; and live performance by Pinoy Dream Academy artist Laarni Lozada. The ribbon- cutting ceremony will be graced by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, Trina Biazon, head of GAD ( Gender and Development ), which supports ZCME’s SAGIP Center.
Proceeds of the bazaar will fund the various projects of Zonta Club of Muntinlupa and Environs like its flagship project SAGIP (Saklolo at Gabay sa ina at Pamilya, a 24-hour crisis center located at the back of Ospital ng Muntinlupa; the TDZ (Tulong Dunong ng Zonta), a scholarship program that aims to give assistance to deserving scholars of Muntinlupa and its environs.
