MANILA, Philippines - Boredom will surely be an alien concept especially when you visit a place armed with scenic spots and delicious treats to lure tourists with like Mati. Below are five things that you should do when you decide to visit this God-given travel destination.
Watch the Dinosaur sleep. When I first saw this rare land formation, it was uncanny how the island did resemble a dinosaur submerged underwater. Take a 25-minute boat ride to Sitio Baso in Barangay Badas and be amazed by this rare 579-hectare natural attraction. But make sure you don’t wake the sleeping dinosaur!
Be a certified surfer! Dubbed the skimboarding and surfing capital, the fine white sand Dahican Beach is a friend to tourists as well as enthusiasts of the sport. I especially love how the waves are perfect for surfers who are looking into a taste of adventure in Mati.
Meet the people. Breathe in kind atmosphere and enjoy the warm smiles of the people of Mati when you spend a day or two in this city. I felt honored that even through a simple token of friendship of O+ tablets, the students of the Davao Oriental State College and Matiao National High School were all smiles to accept visitors to their humble city.
Fall in love with your quick stop. On our way to the Dinosaur Island, we spent some time to contemplate at a beautiful grotto in Mati.
Enjoy a fruity view. Agriculture is still the heart of Mati’s economic growth. At the famous Menzi plantation, I was so amazed when we stood right in front of the hectares of land with abundant fruits from mangoes, pomelos, grapes and even cashew.
