Welcome the Year of the Dragon at The Shang

MANILA, Philippines - Shangri-La Plaza celebrates China’s rich heritage and history via a series of exciting presentations and events for shoppers and mall-goers.

Learn about China since the 1911 Revolution and trace the evolution of one of the world’s greatest nations through this photo exhibit, which is on view until Jan. 28 at the Grand Atrium, courtesy of The Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Manila University and the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

The Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Manila University, with the International Studies for Chinese Arts Incorporated, puts together a Chinese painting exhibit with a well-edited selection of works representing one of the oldest and most enduring artistic traditions. The show runs until Jan. 28.

Gather the basics of Gu Zheng (Chinese plucked zither), Tai-chi meditative exercises, and Chinese painting as the Ateneo Confucius Institute holds a Gu Zheng and Tai-chi Demonstration at the Grand Atrium on Jan. 22, at 1 p.m., followed by a free Chinese painting workshop at 2 p.m.

Shang’s Chinese New Year lineup concludes with the rousing and much-awaited Chinese Lion and Dragon Dance by the Philippine Ling Nam Athletic Association on Jan. 29, 2 p.m., at the Grand Atrium.
