MANILA, Philippines - It’s better to give than to receive” is a cherished old adage that still rings true even today. Truly, there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving — the heart is full and the spirit light. And what better time to share God’s gifts than on Christmas!
At the Ayala Malls, ’tis the season of caring and sharing as it rolls out a series of activities designed not only to add sparkle to the holidays but also to spread the warmth of Christmas and put a glow on the faces of those who have less in life.
Leading us to shine our own light are some shining stars from the showbiz firmament and everyday heroes who do ordinary things extraordinarily well. At the Christmas volunteer station, reach out and make a difference in other people’s lives through the various partner NGOs.
To get us into the spirit of the merriest season of all, Ayala Malls fills the nippy air with the sounds of Christmas via its concert offerings and festivities. Last Wednesday night, we marched down the Greenbelt Fashion Walk to listen to a different kind of concert aptly billed as Different Heroes, Different Voices, featuring Apl.de.Ap, Piolo Pascual, Dulce, Gian Magdangal, Arjohn Gilbert, Zia Quizon, the Philippine Opera Company, and Steps Dance Project.
Better known as a member of The Black Eyed Peas, Filipino-American rapper/record producer Apl.de.Ap himself has an inspiring story to tell. Raised single-handedly by his Filipino mother, his was a long and arduous journey to fame. Today, though legally blind in both eyes, Apl.de.Ap lights up the stage with his consummate passion for music.
Last Friday night, all roads led to Bonifacio High Street where The Great Big Giant Christmas Story shadow play dazzled and warmed the hearts of viewers. Also this week, R&B pop singer Mike Posner thrilled Ayala Malls shoppers in Glorietta, TriNoma, and Alabang Town Center. Meanwhile, festivities abound across the Ayala Malls in celebration of the season of giving.
No doubt about it, it’s beginning to look, sound, and feel a lot like Christmas at Ayala Malls.
