The 2010 International Bazaar goes green

MANILA, Philippines – Now in its 44th year, the International Bazaar goes green on Sunday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the PICC Forum, CCP Complex in Pasay City. This bazaar is headed by chairperson, Rosie Lovely Romulo, wife of DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo, in cooperation with the spouses of the heads of missions (SHOM) and members of the consular corps in the Philippines.

The bazaar is a shopper’s paradise with the diplomatic and consular missions in the Philippines, government agencies, and local entrepreneurs selling choice merchandise that one cannot usually find in malls. But, the heart of its success is the major support that it gives to the charities of the International Bazaar Foundation (IBF). Such charities include the Philippine Christian Foundation, Handicap International Philippines, the Rizal Medical Center, and the Association for the Rights of Children in Southeast Asia, among others.

This year, the IBF has also decided to support the global thrust of preserving the earth. It it will only use reusable, eco-friendly shopping totes instead of plastic ones, as part of its commitment to environmentally-conscious and responsible shopping. These fashionably designed non-plastic totes will be made available for sale at the event, but the IBF also encourages the many thousands of people that attend this event to bring their own.

Aside from the finest products from around the world, there will also be special raffle prizes awarded to lucky winners.

Tickets to the International Bazaar are priced at P100 and can be bought at the IBF office, 6th floor, 2330 Department of Foreign Affairs Building, Roxas Blvd, Pasay City, 833-1320; Tesoro’s at 1016 Arnaiz Avenue, 887-6285; Tesoro’s Ayala Alabang Center; Tesoro’s at 1325 Amalum st.
