MANILA, Philippines – Grupo Reposo, the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA), LRI Design Plaza, and Ricco Renzo Galleries present “Mahalin Sariling Sining — A Visual Art Fest ” slated from May 29 to 31 in Makati City.
Grupo Reposo is composed of various business establishments located along Reposo St. (now known as Nicanor Garcia St.) from the corner of Kalayaan Ave. to Jupiter St. in Makati City.
The group has worked closely with the City of Makati and barangay Bel-Air in transforming Reposo St. into the art center of the country’s commercial business district. Its projects are supported by Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and the Liga ng mga Barangay Affairs Office. It has also worked in cooperation with the Alliance Francaise de Manille in hosting various art events and exhibitions.
“The mission of the group is to promote the strip as the premier art destination of the country especially for visual, culinary and performance arts. This year promises to be bigger and more exciting,” enthuses Eduardo Soler, president of, Grupo Reposo.
The “Mahalin Sariling Sining — A Visual Art Fest” will be held at LRI Design Plaza, 210 N. Garcia St., Bel-Air, Makati City.
LRI Design Plaza is a mixed-use commercial building that houses art galleries, furniture exporters’ showrooms, interior design offices, specialty restaurants, French language classrooms and fashion designers’ studios, among others.
The “Pagalingan Pinay” art exhibit/contest will be held on May 29 at the Art Pavilion, second floor, LRI Design Plaza.
Guests of honor are Mayor Binay and Health Secretary Francisco Duque III. Three grand winners will be chosen from 20 participants.
The panel of judges is composed of Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara, Secretary Duque, art critic Alice Guillermo, visual artists Susan Fetalvero-Roces, Phyllis Zaballero, Julie Lluch, Cid Reyes and Juvenal Sanso. The exhibit runs until Venue: Art Pavilion, 2/F LRI Design Plaza. The show runs until June 5.
Contemporary visual artists Rico Lascano, Jose “Joey” Ibay, Blaine San Luis, Fitz Herrera, Demi Padua, Ferdinand Doctolero, Ramon and Isabel Diaz, Cid Reyes, Gerry Ingco, Norli Meimban, Valerie Valero, Jun Martinez, Nuestro, Jocson, Jemina, Ramiscal, and Magbanua representing ARIAS, Galerie Astra, Gallery Big and Ricco Renzo Gallery will showcase their works in “Pulong Sining” art event from 12 noon to 8 p.m. along Reposo St. All artworks will be on sale.
The participating artists will hold an artist’s talk with the theme “Saan Patungo ang Ating Sining (Where is Philippine Visual Arts Headed)?”
