Christmas at the North Pole starts off the series of grand musical plays today, Dec. 7, 6 p.m. at the Atrium of SM Mall of Asia. Kids get a chance to hear Santa sing and dance with elves, and meet his wife Mrs. Santa as well.
A story about Christmas in Santa’s home and winter wonderland, Christmas at the North Pole has a star-studded cast led by Mr. and Mrs. Santa, Elves Elfis, Baby Elf Trio, Holly Berry, and Rudolf, the captain of the reindeer fleet. It also includes Santa’s beloved reindeer — Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen — as well as the Toys — the Little Drummer Boy, Music Box Dancer, Teddy Bear, and Soldier. Christmas music will be provided by the Cool Yule band composed of Frosty, Billiard, and Icicle. The cast is played by the Theater Down South performers.
Christmas at the North Pole takes place during Christmas Eve when everyone is busy getting dressed for their Big Christmas Party. Santa flies off to deliver his presents, and while he is away, there is an argument with the Little Drummer Boy, who wants to join the band. Mrs. Santa is left to resolve the problem.
As the story unfolds, well-loved Christmas carols will be played, such as Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Happy Little Workshop Song, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Just One Person, Little Drummer Boy, and Little Drummer Boy.
