First all-breed dog show
The Asian Kennel Club Union of the Philippines, Inc. (AKCUPI), the country’s newest purebred dog registering club, launched on March 30, 2008, starts 2009 with its first “All Breed Dog Show” on Saturday, Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at Tiendesitas En Frontera Verde, an 18-hectare property and Asia’s first and largest flea market and theme park, Ortigas Ave. cor. E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave. (C-5), Pasig City.
Center of activities will be Tiendesitas’ 3,000-square-meter People’s Village, an open-air but sheltered area where the club’s first dog show will be mounted with four shows by groupings (terrier, herding, sporting and hound) on Jan. 31, and another four shows by groupings (non-sporting, working, and toy) on Feb. 1.
AKCUPI’s official venue for its dog shows and other special events, the People’s Village, which hosts world-class and high-profile events, is the ideal choice of dog show organizers not only for its strategic location but also for its built-in facilities that respond to the needs of event organizers, according to Henry G. Babiera, president & CEO of Prime Asia Trade Planners and Convention Organizer (PATEPCO) who added that it was built purposely to host affairs like dog shows.
The club’s show committee led by Jester Jo Ong Chuan, John Irvin Uy and Don Caperal, who are spearheading the preparations, said four seasoned international judges have confirmed their attendance and judging in the two-day event. The event will be capped by the awarding of three awards in best in show, three awards for best Philippine-born in show, and three awards for best baby puppy in show.
The judges are Tadashi Mimura and Kazumaru Mikuni of Japan, John C. Frederick Peddie of Canada, and Gregory A. Anderson of the US.
