Science is fun at SM Lifestyle’s Exploreum

The Gyro Ride is one of Space Camp’s highlights where guests can experience a tester of NASA’s anti-gravity simulation.

MANILA, Philippines - Virtual reality simulations, optical illusions, three-dimensional films, and detailed replicas — these are some of the ways the Exploreum at the SM Mall of Asia takes kids and kids at heart on a journey to knowledge and fun.

SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. (SMLEI) introduces the newly revamped SM Science Center as the Exploreum — a place for curious minds who would like to explore the field of science.

The eight main galleries of the Exploreum cover a wide range of topics related to life on earth and the fundamental nature of the cosmos.

“The Natural World” exhibit gives the guest an in-depth view of  flora and fauna, carnivorous plants, the world’s smallest animal, and how insects communicate with each other. “The Human Adventure,” on the other hand, will help guests understand the human brain and the different organs that make up the body.

“Zoom” explores all the most fascinating aspects of how humankind has flown, soared, chugged, and sped throughout the years. “Connect” investigates all the ways we express ourselves — from written to spoken, symbolic to electronic, gestural to text. “Cyberville” is a one-of-a-kind hands-on gallery that features robots, solar powered devices, and local inventions.

The “Space Camp” is an out-of-this-world experience that lets one’s imagination soar as the guest explores meteorites, black holes, cosmic rays, and more. “The Living Earth” exhibit peels back time like layers of our earth’s core to reveal the origin we call home. Also the largest planetarium in the Philippines, “The SM Planetarium” is a 180-degree full dome theater that will feature digital graphics and videos.

Aside from viewing the eight exhibits, young scientists can experiment with the different properties of matter and machine work through the “Discovery Room.” They can also learn through play at the “Science Park” where they can sort through shapes, slides, sounds, and colors.

“The Exploreum is a total immersion experience that will stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun and memorable experiences, because we value science as an indispensable tool for understanding our world and enriching people’s lives,” says Nicole Deato, assistant vice president of education and leisure centers of SMLEI.
