A choir of angels

A gathering of noted personalities from the diplomatic, government, business and social circles took place at the PICC Plenary Hall for the Manila concert of the London-based, all-boys choir Libera. The Manila and Cebu concerts of the world famous choir this year marked the boys’ fourth visit in the Philippines. Before the distinguished guests were serenaded by the chart-topping “boy band” during the Manila show, a pre-concert cocktail was organized and sponsored by the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) under the leadership of chairman Roberto de Ocampo, OBE, where everyone enjoyed delectable servings of hors d’oeuvres complemented by overflowing drinks. As expected, Libera once again captured the hearts of their Filipino fans with their magnificent repertoire of songs that included crowd-favorite Bayan Ko, Orinoco Flow, Angels From On High as well as well-loved Christmas carols Silent Night, Joy To The World and Carols Of The Bells.

Part of the proceeds of the Manila and Cebu concerts were donated to Children’s Hour, British Alumni Association’s Foundation for Disadvantaged Children and survivors of typhoon Maring.

Through thick and thin

It seemed like yesterday when the tight-knit Assumption College Class of ’63 celebrated its high school graduation. The bond between these ladies has remained strong over the years and proof of their lasting friendship was the golden anniversary velada (soiree) organized by the endearing Marieliese Evaristo. A delectable spread of Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese dishes plus the all-time Pinoy favorite lechon was served during the event, complemented by overflowing drinks. Everyone shared fond stories of the fascinating yesteryears as well as some of the unforgettable misadventures they experienced. It was indeed a night full of wonderful memories that will definitely last a lifetime.
