MANILA, Philippines - Tourists going to the summer capital of Baguio City can now expect a brighter and well-lit Kennon Road with the rehabilitation of this arterial thoroughfare that involves the installation of 20 sets of GE LED R150 stretching from Camp 7 all the way to Camp 5 or an estimated distance of three km.
Baguio City has retrofitted their existing lamps to LED lighting fixtures on major parks such as the Burnham Park and Chinese Garden. More recently, 20 sets of GE LED R150 157W have been installed at Camp 7 with Baguio General Hospital as the starting point and plans to light up the road until Camp 5 is already in progress.
The impact of Baguio’s booming population prompted city officials to conduct an intervention to revitalize the city by way of a Clean & Green Environment project. Switching to energy efficient roadway lighting is one of the core initiatives of the program and has so far proven to be an effective solution in reducing the city’s energy consumption dramatically.
“GE recognizes the importance of a sound and thriving environment as a major element in promoting tourism. This initiative with the local government of Baguio is just one of the many lighting projects in the country that GE participates in and is geared towards creating better, safer and cleaner communities through products that are ecologically sensitive and at the same time, cost-effective,†says GE Lighting country manager Vince Adorable.
“GE’s ground-breaking work on LED Lamps has made life so much convenient and efficient for people and businesses around the world. Our products have become the smart choice for both commercial and consumer use given that they have longer life, require less replacements and offers more energy savings compared to regular incandescent lights,†said Ditas Alipao GE Lighting Philippines country product manager.
