Two well-known German furniture brands, Rolf Benz and Hülsta, have finally opened a showroom in Manila. As it turns out, modern high-end furniture design is not the exclusive realm of Italians.
If the philosophy of Hülsta furniture company is to be considered that “furniture is not simply an object of use, that it also expresses the personality of the manufacturer and the customer†then it is paying Germany and its customers around the world a great compliment on their design aesthetics.
Because, let’s face it, Germany is probably not the first country you think of when it comes to furniture design kitchen systems, yes, it has been making great innovations in the industry for many decades, and luxury, powerful cars, definitely.
But tables, chairs, beds and sofas? Isn’t that what the Italians were put on earth for?
Markus Acker, Rolf Benz area sales manager, laughs and says, “The German aesthetic is more of functional beauty.â€
As it turns out, German furniture brands have been making houses beautiful in Europe for the longest time and in the past decades have also ventured into Asia.
That signature German precision does come in handy when designing sofas and beds imagine a couch with nine different foams inside to contour to your body when you use it, or a bed whose softness can be controlled either very slightly or radically to conform to your body shape and the way you sleep.
Though a bit belatedly but certainly at the perfect time to take advantage of the economic growth of the Philippines two German luxury brands under the Hüls Group were launched in Manila this week: Hülsta and Rolf Benz are makers of high-end furniture and furnishings used by European royalty, celebrities, athletes and anyone with a taste and budget for beautiful modern furniture.
Hülsta pieces are manufactured in Ottenstein and Stadtlohn, it has 500 stores in 53 countries worldwide; Rolf Benz has 600 stores in 54 countries.
And now, for both, they are putting one more showroom on the map of their retail empire: Manila. The local partner that brought the brands here is Jaime Daez, managing director of Hülsta and Rolf Benz Philippines.
The two companies share a 400-sq.m. showroom located at the third level of Fully Booked in Bonifacio High Street in BGC. Most of the sofas clad in luscious, natural and treated Italian leather are by Rolf Benz and the dining tables and chairs, beds, wardrobes and accessories are by Hülsta.
“Hülsta features modern and contemporary designs infused with the latest technologies,†Daez says. “Hülsta’s furniture delivers the highest quality, fitting all the daily needs of a modern lifestyle. Rolf Benz is regarded as one of the top five best sofa manufacturers in the world. Its products are unmatched when it comes to comfort, quality and functionality. We cater to the most discerning, high-end clients. Offering nothing less than the best, these German brands epitomize functional luxury and design precision.
“A product that carries the Hülsta name must meet particularly high quality requirements. The company developed processes for every stage – from planning an innovation to installation and beyond. Hülsta currently uses approximately 30 internal test scenarios for materials and functionalities.â€
The companies are environment-friendly, too, carrying the Blue Angel environmental seal throughout all ranges, from design to manufacturing to delivery. The Blue Angel is the first environment-related label for products and services in the world
“Rolf Benz is unparalleled when merging functionality and design while delivering the highest level of comfort for its sofa range. It is no surprise that the tag line of Rolf Benz is ‘the architecture of seating,’†says Daez.
Rolf Benz’s R&D group scientifically studies the ideal softness or hardness for every part of the body that makes contact with its seating.
“We cater to the most discerning, high-end clients. Offering nothing less than the best, these German brands epitomize functional luxury and design precision,†added Daez.
