A travelogue on canvas

Paulino Garcia Jr., Elizabeth T. Sy, Jojo S. Paje, Cid Reyes and artist Jenny Dayrit-Leviste

Self-taught artist Jenny Dayrit-Leviste had her first solo exhibition recently at the Gallery Ricco Renzo in Makati.  “KulturSpect” was an anthology of images taken from Jenny’s recollections and photos of her many travels across the Philippines and to other countries like Bhutan, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam and the Czech Republic.  Serenity and restraint are common elements in Jenny’s artworks and still lifes.  Proceeds of the exhibition were for the benefit of the projects of Zonta Club of Makati and Environs.  Enjoying Jenny’s collection were her husband, Oceana Gold (Philippines) chairman Joey Leviste, Silk Cocoon president Jean Goulbourn, renowned glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, and Banco de Oro chairman Tessie Sy-Coson. Making a mental picture of the things that strike us during our travels or through life’s long journey and finally putting it on canvas is quite an achievement for most us.
