Leslie Lewis Sword, daughter of iconic entrepreneur Reginald Lewis and Filipino-American lawyer Loida Nicolas-Lewis, recently staged the play Miracle in Rwanda at the Insular Life Auditorium in Ayala Avenue, Makati City. The play is about the life of Immaculee Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 91-day genocide in Africa and how she transformed from being a woman filled with hatred and anger into a forgiving one after the death of her brothers and parents. The play was attended by the country’s prominent personalities such as Senator Frank Drilon, major sponsor PLDT Smart Foundation led by executive director Butch Meily, US Ambassador to the Asian Development Bank Curtis Chin and University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) president general Jaime delos Santos, among many others, the one-woman act shows how Leslie is continually inspired by the extraordinary experiences of the main character and how she uses her talents as a way of giving back to others as what was imparted to her by her father’s philanthropic works.
