MANILA, Philippines - A P200 electronic load purchased by Elpidio Aragon, a tailor in Saudi Arabia, and Enrique Pugosa, an auto mechanic in Dubai, paved the way for owning a brand-new home and a car.
Aragon and Pugosa were the lucky winners of the recently concluded “Smart Pinoy Grand Salubong” program of leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).
Launched in partnership with Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), Vista Land and Camella Homes, Nissan Motor Philippines, Inc. (NMPI), and Wow Videoke, Smart annually holds the “Smart Pinoy Grand Salubong,” which is especially designed to provide balikbayans with a grand welcome at the NAIA and Mactan International Airport arrival areas.
The “Smart Pinoy Grand Salubong” is a three-month-long activity of fun games where exciting prizes, including a brand-new Camella house and lot, and Nissan Grand Livina are at stake. The activity culminated in the awarding ceremonies held at the NAIA arrival lobby.
“Smart is committed to support the hardworking, present-day Filipino heroes by providing them not only with innovative, affordable, and reliable communication means, but also with warm and fun grand welcome activities when they come back home,” shares Kathy Carag, Smart International Services department head.
“ With only a Smart SIM card, we now have our own house in a subdivision,” enthuses Emelita Aragon, wife of Epidio.
“We would like to thank Smart for making our dream of having a car come true,” says Bianca Pugosa, wife of Enrique.
The wife and children of Elpidio traveled all the way from Pangasinan to formally receive the key of their new Camella home at the “Smart Pinoy Grand Salubong” awarding ceremonies. Likewise, Enrique’s wife, son, brother, and in-laws traveled from Laguna and Rizal to personally receive the key of their new Nissan Grand Livina.
“Smart Pinoy Grand Salubong” is one of Smart’s ways of recognizing and thanking our hardworking OFWs for contributing to the country’s economy and for continuously partnering with Smart for their communication needs.
To better serve its international market, Smart launched the pioneering Hellow IDD service in 2009, allowing everyone, even those without cell phones, to call their loved ones abroad for as low as P2.50 per minute. Hellow IDD reloadable card can be used through different handsets, the affordable per-minute charging is deducted from one’s Hellow account and not from a friend’s mobile phone.
The “Smart Pinoy Grand Salubong” awarding ceremonies were held concurrently with NAIA’s 28th founding anniversary.
