MANILA, Philippines - Known as premier shopping, dining and entertainment destinations, Ayala Malls also focuses on strong community stewardship. Executives of the Ayala Malls group presented a donation from their recent Christmas Shopping Bag Promo to its partner charity organizations World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Children’s Hour and Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education (CENTEX).
Ayala Malls continues to raise awareness on their top advocacies towards a greener environment and quality education for the underprivileged by promoting a sense of involvement in its loyal customers and patrons. By participating in the Christmas Shopping Bag promo, their shoppers not only help reduce the large volume of plastic bags and unnecessary waste; accumulating a certain amount of receipts with an additional fee entitled shoppers to claim their Christmas shopping bags, the proceeds of which would benefit charities supported by the Ayala Malls.
Ayala Malls vice president and COO Rowena Tomeldan notes, “We chose to support WWF, Children’s Hour and CENTEX because they are aligned with our objectives.”
As the largest multinational conservation organization in the world, WWF closely focuses on the conservation of nature and climate change. WWF corporate relations manager Luanne Roble relates, “Truly, Ayala Malls is our partner in our advocacy. For one thing, the Christmas Shopping bag promo hits individuals directly to promote messages like reducing and reusing waste. We are grateful that Ayala Malls enabled their target market to act on these advocacies. Their core support is very valuable.”
Children’s Hour is a fund-raising and grant-giving organization that taps individuals, employees and corporations to donate at least one hour of their earnings once a year to fund projects committed to promote the welfare of Filipino children. Ayala Malls has been supporting Children’s Hour since its first project together through the Christmas Shopping bag promo. Children’s Hour senior marketing and communications associate Therese “Bukay” Lagman shares, “Ayala Malls has been a loyal supporter of Children’s Hour and we are lucky enough to be one of their beneficiaries.”
A model public school learning environment, CENTEX aims to achieve true democracy by creating a level field of opportunity for bright children from under-resourced families to receive quality education. CENTEX director Carol Atacador notes, “Ayala Malls has been extremely supportive of us in terms of sustaining its commitment to our projects, most especially through the Christmas Shopping bag promo. They have helped us lend a helping hand to underprivileged children who deserve quality education.” CENTEX has two schools located in Tondo, Manila, and Bauan, Batangas.
