Naval is an exporter and manufacturer of furniture pieces made of indigenous materials such as rattan, natural fibers, and wood. His works lean towards European designs. His latest collection is inspired by Swiss architect Le Corbusier, who was an urban planner, painter, sculptor, writer, and modern furniture designer.
Naval received the prestigious GMARK (Good Design) Award twice from the Japan Industrial Promotion Organization.
The Legaspi Collection, on the other hand, features 11th-century lacquerware which were hand-crafted in the ancient surrounds of Bagan. The place is one of the cultural and archeological wonders of Asia. The other treasures were sourced from the Golden Triangle countries — Burma, Thailand and Laos. Each piece in Legaspi’s showroom tells a story.
“The store is a tribute to my husband Toto, who was also my shopping buddy. Together, we would bargain-hunt in the rugged roads of Mayanmar and other Asian countries,” Maribelle recalls.
Ruby Nazir’s Noble Antiques House & Gallery showcases an interesting mix of antique Chinese furniture.
On display are lovely wedding cabinets, fully carved screens, desks, sideboards, leather trunks, dining sets, coffee tables, Tibetan side chests, pottery figures, porcelain vases, among others.
