It was truly an “Evening of Gold” as envisioned by chairperson Sandie Castro-Poblador, who recently organized the first US Universities and Ivy League Benefit at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. Together with the PLDT Smart Foundation, chaired by Wharton alumnus Manuel V. Pangilinan, WG’68, the event was for the benefit of the Bahay Pag-asa Project. The affair was attended by the alumni of the world-renowned Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with your columnist conducting the auction. Coming out of guarded privacy in support of this fund-raising were Martin Lorenzo, Myla Villanueva, Lizette Peralta, David Jim, Jigger and Carlo Antonio, Peter Coyuito, George Siy, Jessica Puyat, James and Mike de Jesus, Duane Santos, Manuel Dizon, George Yang, Manny and Tony Herbosa, to name a few. Congratulations!
Embracing new beginnings
A lavish and intimate despedida party was hosted by the affable Marissa Fenton at the Fort’s elegant Le Souffle for her husband Ian Fenton who is headed for Qatar to sit as vice president of Sitel, one of the leading contact center providers in the world. It was an exciting day of new and hopeful beginnings as family and long-time friends gathered to enjoy a delectable aristocratic cuisine and good company. Bon voyage, Ian!
