Island golfing fever in Boracay

The greens were particularly greener and the festivities even merrier at the recent 7th Fairways & Bluewater Chairman’s Cup in Boracay, a three-day golfing event with more than a hundred players. Led by Fairways & Bluewater chairman Noel "Toti" Cariño, this year’s tourna-ment was a big success, despite the Chairman being ill with high fever, thanks to his able team led by Fairways & Bluewater Resort Golf and Country Club resort manager Baby Ignacio and golf director Geb Bilbao. Winners in this year’s Cup include Felix Cortez as overall champion, Bernie Capa as first runner-up and Jun Farcon as second runner-up. Two days of golfing bliss were capped off with cocktails by expert caterer Via Mare together with Ralph’s Wines & Spirits. Performances included the special participation of international musical sensation Leo Valdez, Eugene Villaluz and The New Minstrels, Generations.

Prominent companies also extended their involvement through sponsorships of major prizes and giveaways. Among those joining this year’s Cup as sponsors are Asia Travel.com, Boracay Golf.com, Asian Spirit, Seair, Ralph’s Wines & Spirits, La Reserve, Hana Tours, Mizuno, Boracay Radio Station, Swing Magazine, Golf Digest, The Bellevue Hotel, Rep. Ricky Sandoval, Kuwait Airways, Turf Company and Fil-Estate Marketing Group. Everyone was ecstatic at this year’s turnout and even more ecstatic at the many improvements being made at Fairways. What a great weekend it was! Thanks and happy birthday, Toti!
