MANILA, Philippines — Boxy styles appear to be in fashion at the Suzuki think tank as the small car specialist rolled out a bevy of lookers unafraid to be, well, square.
E-Survivor
Headlining Suzuki’s presence at Tokyo this year is the e-Survivor, which looks like it’s ready for duty in otherworldly terrain. Suzuki says the vehicle “pays tribute to Suzuki’s proud 4WD heritage,” as it combines high ground-covering capability with the torque and acceleration of an electric vehicle. “Of course, it is also ready to support autonomous driving, which will become the mainstream in the future,” adds the company.
Spacia Concept
A three-cylinder engine with VVT and “mild hybrid system” power the suitcase (yes, suitcase) inspired Spacia Concept. Its main USP is playfulness and roominess that should appeal to both driver and passengers alike.
XBee
The two-tone XBee adheres to the boxy theme even as it is more aggressive and outdoorsy – envisioned as a capable camping vehicle imbued with elegant appointments.
Carry Open-Air Market Concept
The reliable old guard Carry is now seen as having a broader cabin space with “lots of usable space behind the seats,” perfect for taller passengers or more payload. The cargo area has also been enlarged to accommodate longer items. Suzuki is also imagining the mini-truck to be more flexible and configurable for most requirements.
