MANILA, Philippines -- The Asia's Premier Sneaker and Streetwear Trade Expo is back bigger than ever with Sole Slam 8 on Sunday at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The most anticipated sneaker event of the year is expected to draw thousands of sneaker enthusiasts, traders and sellers from all over the country and even from abroad.
Upping the ante has always been in the mind of the innovative Sole Slam founder Antonio Aguirre, one of the respected figures in the sneaker community in the country.
This year, Aguirre has collaborated with internationally acclaimed sneaker authority website Nicekicks.com and will be bringing in Southern hip-hop legend Bun B for a special guest appearance as he continues to work on bringing the Filipino sneaker culture to global consciousness.
This is the first time that Nicekicks.com is hosting an international event since being founded in 2006.
No less than Nicekicks.com owners and founders Matt and Allison Halfhill will fly in to witness the groundbreaking event that will mark several firsts.
Aside from the annual sneaker battle, the first ever Annual Sole Slam Awards will also be one of the highlights of this year's edition.
"Together with Stuff Magazine Philippines and with the help of some of the most influential people in the industry including the voice of the masses, it's about time we start honoring those who are at the top of their game," Aguirre said.
"We will be giving a total of 13 awards to recognize the best of the best in the country," Aguirre added.
Up for grabs are the Best Event Vendor Display, Best Dressed Male, Best Dressed Female, Favorite Social Media Feed and Hottest Female Sneakerhead of the Day as minor awards; Street Culture Cultivator award and Influencer of the Year as special awards.
For the major awards, Sole Slam will be handing out the Athlete of the Year, Dj of the Year, Artist of the Year, Collector of the Year, Homegrown Brand of the Year and the Most Promising Brand of the Year.
