Traffic has been the major topic lately, and why not, it’s what we all face on a daily basis.
Numerous suggestions have been laid out, and one of them is a very healthy alternative — biking! Why not? It’s done in other countries, so why not adopt it here? Biking is done by families and friends on a regular basis, so why not as a primary mode of transportation?
But biking has become so popular lately that various groups and companies are now taking advantage of this by actively promoting this sport.
For the past four years, R.O.X. (Recreational Outdoor eXchange) has held its Bike Fair, which showcases various activities lined up for a whole
month that promote the sport and likewise nurture the community.
The month-long affair again featured a roster of educational and recreational activities in the different parts of the country, including special sales, biking events, and a bike donation drive.
But apart from being the usual friendly competition which gathers bikers from all corners of the metro in celebration of their mutual love for the sport, this year’s Bike Fair also served as a platform that gathered biking enthusiasts to collectively give back and empower the community through the 4th Bike For A Cause event, which was held on the last Sunday of the month-long event at the Marquee Mall in Pampanga.
Presented in cooperation with the Primer Group of Companies, Fox, Osprey, Timbuk2, Dahon, Felt Bicycle, Tern, Bickerton, and Biologic, this year’s
R.O.X. Bike For A Cause event was organized by Hubble Multisports. From 200 registered participants in their first year, the 2015 edition had over 1,000 bikers who all came together to ride it out for a good cause.
In the past, R.O.X. was able to donate a total of five units of bike racks to the Pampanga High School in 2013 and 2014, This year, with the aid of Bikes for the Philippines, R.O.X. was able to turn over three bike racks to Concepcion Integrated School in San Simon, Pampanga.
Naszer C. Yco and Joel Uichico of Bikes for the Philippines presented the donation. Also, special prizes such as the “Most Unique Bike” and “Most Number of Riders in a Group” were announced during the event.
The R.O.X. Bike Fair 2015 again broke new ground and so this early, preparations are already underway for an even bigger event come next year!
