Medela House in New Manila, Quezon City, is fairly well-known as a "center for learning," among other things. It is actually the business office of Medela Moms Incorporated (MMI), but the moms who set it up actually had other plans for it from the very beginning.
"More than being a business office, Medela House is a haven for breastfeeding moms where we share experiences, learnings, tips, friendships and other parenting concerns," Maricel Cua, co-owner of MMI, shares.
Maricel and her partner, Beng Feliciano, are committed to helping parents on the exciting and sometimes "bumpy" road of parenthood, by helping provide support in different ways.
One of the ways they do this is by partnering with different businesses, organizations and groups that can hold learning events at Medela House.
For the last weekend of January, there are three learning events set to take place at Medela House especially for families. Here’s a brief description of each event:
January 30, 2015: Yaya Care at School
If you have a yaya who is tasked to bring your young child to school, this is a learning event you will surely want her to attend.
The speaker from Peek-A-Boo Housekeeping Training Agency will cover topics like the attitude a yaya should have towards toddlers while they are at school, how to discipline toddlers while they are in school, do’s and don’ts of yayas while they are in school, and basic first aid (applicable while in school).
The yaya seminar will be from 1.00-4.30 p.m. on January 30, 2015 at Medela House (No. 29, 1st Street, New Manila, Quezon City). For rates, and to register a slot, call or text 0917-8110821.
January 31, 2015 (a.m.): Starting Your Preschool Homeschool
If you want to "be inspired to cherish your children’s childhoods while being the main figure in their formative years," you should definitely attend this workshop on how to start your preschool homeschool.
Mariel Uyquiengco, parenting advocate and co-owner of The Learning Basket, will help you to start homeschooling your child as soon as you get home by sharing practical tips and information.
She will also speak about the "what" and "why" of homeschooling during the preschool years, and present different homeschooling options for parents to consider.
The workshop will be from 9.00-11.30 a.m., also at Medela House. For more details on learning fees and the registration process, visit The Learning Basket’s site.
January 31, 2015 (p.m.): The Breastfeeding Club’s Breastfeeding 101 Seminar
If you are an expecting mom or a mom who simply wants to learn more about breastfeeding, the breastfeeding classes held by The Breastfeeding Club’s Abbie Yabot are definitely worth attending.
Breastfeeding 101 is all about beginning breastfeeding. Abbie, a La Leche League leader and certified lactation counselor, will cover all the basics when it comes to starting your baby on the best journey — at Mommy’s breast!
The fee of P800 is inclusive of participation of both husband and wife to three (3) breastfeeding classes, plus snacks and a breastfeeding manual. To register, please call or text 0917-8110821 or email bestforfamilies@gmail.com.
