Speak out & wear Avon's empowerment necklace

MANILA, Philippines - In the Philippines, domestic violence is still considered a taboo topic, leaving many men, women, and children across the nation to suffer in silence. And with this reality affecting countless Filipino families, the need to take action and help bring this pressing societal issue to light is more urgent than ever.

Since Avon launched its Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign in 2009, more and more Filipinos are becoming aware that domestic violence exists here; that it goes beyond just physical abuse; and that it can happen to anyone. Most importantly, more survivors are beginning to speak out and encourage other sufferers to do the same.

Thanks to Avon, the company for women, anyone can now express her support for the cause and help others speak out in a number of simple yet actionable ways, one of which is Avon’s Empowerment Circle of Support Necklace.

More than just an accessory, this necklace is comprised of a string of infinity symbols connected to each other. Each symbol represents a woman’s potential to live a full and decent life because she is free from the chains of domestic violence. The necklace also represents a promise of love and support, symbolizing a commitment to one’s self and to loved ones to help end domestic violence now.

For every purchase of the necklace worth P199, P20 will go to Avon’s Speak Out Fund. This fund is used to support partner non-government organizations (NGOs) — Women’s Crisis Center in Manila, Gender Watch Against Domestic Violence (G-Wave) in Dumaguete, IMA Foundation in Pampanga, and Legal Center for Women and Children (LUNA) in Davao — as they maintain hotline numbers that victims and other concerned individuals can reach out to.

Aside from the necklace, the public is also encouraged to join the cause by purchasing Avon’s Moisture Blend Giftable Hand & Body Lotion, from which P5 will be earmarked for the same partner NGOs and initiatives.
