Doctors' congress

MANILA, Philippines - Healthway Medical, the country’s pioneer and largest mall-based out-patient clinic, and pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline held the first doctors’ congress to discuss the latest trends in healthcare, evolving patient lifestyles, and management strategies.

Says Carmie De Leon, Healthway vice president for sales and marketing: “This congress will enable us to further develop the skills of our doctors and improve our ability to provide the Alagang Healthway brand of care to our patients. Healthway Medical and GlaxoSmithKline will continue to build a partnership in bringing quality health care services to our clients.”

More than 120 doctors from Healthway attended the congress. Lectures were held by various key external experts who discussed topics such as developments in medical malpractice and influenza, adolescent dermatology, and antihistamines in children. There was also a lecture on personality development for doctors. The congress was Healthway’s and GSK’s contribution to the enrichment of the medical profession.

“The doctors’ congress is the first large-scale assembly for a mall-based, out-patient clinic like Heathway Medical with multi-specialty doctors,” says Jonnah Singian, GlaxoSmithKline business manager.   “This congress aims to expose the medical practitioners to new products available on the market and to further their medical education.”

“This will help Healthway doctors by arming them with the latest developments in management guidelines and providing holistic updates that would be beneficial for both the doctors and their patients,” adds Singian.

“We were encouraged to participate in this,” says Dr. Laurence Vinluan, a pediatrician at Healthway Market! Market! and Shangri- La Plaza.   “The congress was very helpful in giving us more knowledge specifically on how to deal with our patients. It enlightened us on the proper approach to our patients, how to better respond to their needs, how to build good rapport with them, and how to forge a stronger relationship between doctors and patients.”
