MANILA, Philippines - More Filipinos are now aware that the key to a healthier lifestyle starts with good — and proper — nutrition. Ironically, with the rise of the Filipinos’ awareness of proper eating comes the proliferation of health advice dispensed by so-called wellness gurus, popular celebrities, multi-awarded athletes, respected doctors, etc. Though their intention is laudable, they are not properly equipped to know what food one should consume in order to lead a healthy life.
The ND takes on the challenging role of being the leader in information dissemination and promotion of a healthy lifestyle in the midst of health and wellness concerns and controversies that affect our society. Thus, the Nutritionist-Dietitian Association of the Philippines (NDAP) will champion the important role of NDs at its 56th annual convention to be held on March 3-4 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza, CCP complex, Pasay City with the theme “Nutritionist-Dietitian Ako, Kampeon sa Nutrisyon.”
“This convention is very important especially now that wellness is such an important matter. NDs have a crucial role to play since they are the ones who are knowledgeable about food and its impact on one’s health. NDs should lead the way in encouraging Filipinos to embrace a healthy lifestyle,” says Jo-Ann Verdadero-Salamat, RND, convention chairperson.
