MANILA, Philippines - Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria launches its newest cooking program Junior Chefs Workshop this Christmas season. The program aims to upgrade its annual Little Chefs cooking workshop, this time including older kids aged 11 to 15 that have outgrown the Little Chefs program. Executive Chef Angelo Faoro prepared fun and challenging recipes to stimulate the little chefs’ enthusiasm for learning and spark culinary curiosity. Classes are scheduled on December 18-19.
The two-day program consists of a classroom and cooking session. The classroom session covers principles in personal hygiene, kitchen sanitation, kitchen tools, and equipment familiarization. Some kids who have joined the Little Chefs program might find the first half of the workshop familiar. For the Junior Chefs, Chef Angelo Faoro included additional topics that suit the capability of older kids such as cooking measurements, conversion table, and special knife skills that would surely fire up the kids with excitement. For the second session, Junior Chefs will apply their classroom lessons to different recipes, from baking their own Christmas pudding to hot items like pasta. They will also get the chance to experience working with other chefs as a group to come up with their own recipe and dish.
For a fee of P2,500 net, the kids will receive a set uniform that includes chef’s jacket, side towel, apron, and toque. Apart from the uniform, they will also receive a chef’s kit that contains a name tag, handout, pairing knife, and cutting board.
On the last day of the workshop, Chef Angelo Faoro will lead the awarding and graduation ceremony. Each Junior Chef will receive a certificate of completion signed by the Executive Chef. This will certify that the recipient has fulfilled and gained the knowledge and skill required to earn the title Junior Chef. Participants, families, and companions will be given a 20-percent discount for lunch at Seven Corners, as they celebrate the triumphant occasion.
Little Chefs need not to worry, Crowne Plaza’s annual cooking program which the hotel pioneered for kids aged 10 to 5 will still continue. Kids will start cooking again on Dec. 11-12.
For this Christmas season, Little Chefs will learn to make Christmas marzipan candies molded into decorative Christmas designs. These sweet delights will be used in decorating their very own Christmas Village. The best part about this is that children can take home their masterpiece to share with their loved ones.
