MANILA, Philippines - Teachers from Gawad Kalinga Sibol, the volunteer organization’s preschool educational program, recently attended a two-day confidence-building workshop sponsored by Bonakid Pre-School. Held at Wyeth Philippines’ corporate office in Makati, the seminar was the latest installment of Bonakid Pre-School’s Ready for the World advocacy program, a campaign which aims to equip Filipino preschool children with the confidence they need to face life’s challenges.
“It’s difficult to teach children how to acquire confidence if you yourself don’t have it,” shares Aubrey Allarde, product manager for Bonakid Pre-School. “This is why we wanted to help GK Sibol teachers enhance their self-confidence so that they can also share the same with their students.”
The highly-interactive workshop was ably facilitated by Caren Bayhon-Yrastorza, a well-known communications consultant who frequently holds personality development training programs. As part of the module, the seminar focused on such topics as the importance of having confidence, the power of the spoken word, and the significance of maintaining good hygiene to developing one’s self-esteem.
The lectures also helped the GK Sibol teachers enhance their English proficiency and provided them with tips on how to improve their communication skills.
