Makati Medical holds forum on aesthetic surgery

MANILA, Philippines - Well-being and beauty — are they synonymous? This is what the Makati Medical Center’s Aesthetic Center tackled at the recently concluded 1st Lay Forum held at the hospital’s Ledesma Hall, which gathered specialists in the fields of cosmetic/plastic surgery, Dermlaser and Aesthetic Dentistry.

The formal program began with opening remarks from Dr. Manuel O. Fernandez Jr., head of the Aesthetic Center, followed by a series of interesting and informative lectures such as “Bringing Back Confidence to Your Smile,” “The Hidden Beauty of Periodental Plastic Surgery,” “Most Common Cosmetic Surgeries for Women,” “Spots, Dots and What-nots,” “Fit into Shape,” “Marked for Life,” and “The Science of the Most Intimate Make-over.”

Dr. Imelda Cabral-Villar, head of the MCF Dermlaser and Phototherapy, called it “an afternoon filled with information on beauty and well-being for your skin, teeth, face, and body.”

The lay forum also provided answers to questions on noninvasive approaches to delaying the signs of aging with lasers, light and radiofrequency, and minor surgical repairs or touchups with fillers, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, liposuction, and even scar revisions.

Speakers included a veritable list of experts like Aesthetic Dentistry’s Pia Antonio, DMD and Regina Morales, DMD; Aesthetic Surgery Center’s Dr. Manuel O. Fernandez Jr. and Dr. Annebelle Aherrera (ob-gyn); and MCF DermLaser and Phototherapy Center head Dr. Imelda Cabral-Villar and consultants Dr. Gio Dimayuga, Dr. Giselle Lazaro, and Dr. Valerie Herbosa.
