The movie was advertised on the Internet using tease advertising and viral marketing techniques in which the "secret" and the specific details of the film were purposely shrouded with mystery. This clever advertising and publicity aroused the world’s curiosity and built a high anticipation for the movie. Trailers were later released revealing further clues about the film and its supposed "secret."
The Secret premiered through the Internet on March 23, 2006 using Vividas technology. It was also screened on Nine Network in Australia and is now available on DVD and Pay Per View through streaming media. Its DVD was one of the top sellers at Amazon.com during the 2006 Christmas week and its book version made it to The New York Times bestseller list.
As postulated by wise men and scientists, the universe and everything in it (yes, that includes us!) are governed by specific universal laws like the law of gravity (which by the way, applies only to the earth; it doesn’t work on the moon and outer space where weightlessness prevails). These universal laws are supposed to work all the time and there’s no escaping them. To live right and gloriously, we must align ourselves with them. One of the most powerful of such laws is the "secret" that can give you everything you want, and it is (drum roll), tadah…
The Law of Attraction postulates that your thoughts attract everything that comes into your life. You are like a magnet  what you hold in your mind, you will attract into your life. Thoughts are energy and when the vibration is right, they materialize. The Law of Attraction can be summed up in three words: "Thoughts become things."
By knowing how to apply the Law of Attraction, you can make your dreams come true. You can magnetize your dream lover, dream house, dream car, anything your heart desires. Your happiness, health, wealth, love, success, and possessions are the emotional and material equivalents of all the thoughts and images you keep in your mind.
Your thoughts create your reality; your life is a manifestation of your thoughts. Yes, including all the things you are complaining about  wrinkles, diseases, the sad state of your finances, accidents, even that good-for-nothing partner. Which means that whatever your life is right now is a result of what you have thought, chosen, and decided upon (or not thought, not chosen, and not decided upon!). So be careful about what you think of because you are bound to get it.
The best part about all this Law of Attraction hullabaloo is that once more, there is a reawakening, a re-impressing onto people’s minds of a corollary principle. You are the master of your fate, and your life is your major responsibility. Whether it turns out to be a divine masterpiece or a dismal disaster completely depends on you and your thoughts, and no one else is to blame.
The secret of The Secret is that it was never a secret. The Law of Attraction was neither kept from the public nor was there any attempt or conspiracy to hide it. It is, in fact, a very popular universal law that has been openly taught by old masters and contemporary teachers, including Jesus Christ, Buddha, Napoleon Hill, Robert Anthony, Deepak Chopra, Iyanla Vanzant, even Walt Disney, and many others.
In the Philippines, Charley Barretto featured the universal laws (the Law of Attraction was just one of them) in her Science of Mind seminars in the early ’70s, George Sison teaches the same universal laws in his Temple of Prayer, Peace and Prosperity, and yours truly in my "Make Your Impossible Dreams Come True!" showminars, complete with step-by-step techniques.
Despite the misleading title and its gimmicky (but effective!) advertising tactics, The Secret is a relevant and timely film. What we human beings hold in our minds will ultimately determine the earth’s destiny. If we want real peace, love, and prosperity, we must blot out from our consciousness thoughts of war, hatred, and poverty.
