MANILA, Philippines - A normal complaint amongst smartphone users is that while some of the usual brands offer individual stand-out features, none can seem to come up with one that has a long lasting battery life. Getting the most out of smartphones nowadays seems to be restricted to one’s access to a nearby electric socket.
Hoping to change that is PhoneCo Mobile Technologies, Inc. as it introduces the CloudFone Thrill 430x. Right off the bat, representatives during the phone’s launch were emphasizing on the phone’s long battery life, which they say is “three times longer than your average smartphone.â€
In the palm of my hand, the Thrill430x feels nice and solidly built. But the immediate thing I noticed is how thick it is. I asked to see the battery and I was surprised to see that it was actually around 80% the size of the phone. The Polymer 4160mAh battery, I would learn, takes around six hours to charge but it should last for three days or probably more on average use, which could probably mean calls, texts, and some web surfing.
In my mind, I thought that this would be best suited for those weekend travels, eliminating the need to bring a charger and, if it’s outside of the country, an adapter. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s a quad band GSM phone so a weekend in Hong Kong should not be a problem if you want a decent Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone that has an 8MP AF camera and a front camera.
It runs on a 1.2GHz Dual Core Processor, has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, GPS, 4GB internal memory (expandable up to 32GB), and a 4.3†IPS display.
“As a mobile phone brand that prides itself on innovation, product development, brand building, operational efficiency, and excellence, we at CloudFone see all of these embodied in the Thrill 430x,†says Eric Yu, president of PhoneCo Mobile Technologies, Inc. “The improved battery life is part of our goal to make a true smartphone experience, something to be used more than just for calling and texting.â€
We’ll try to post a review of the unit so watch out for it.
