MANILA, Philippines - LG Electronics recently released a top-loading washer that added health-conscious features to LG’s cleaning technology. This year, the world’s leading innovator in home appliances has taken its health-conscious features even further with new, hygienic stainless steel tub and a built-in tub-cleaning function to its selected line of top loading washing machines.
A detergent-free cleaning feature can be found in selected top-loading washer. It uses a sensor to measure residual detergent and then adjusts the duration, temperature, water level and intensity of each of the washer’s four rinse stages. This ensures that allergy-causing detergent is removed completely from clothing, which is especially important for homes with small children or people with sensitive skin.
The health-conscious features continue with the top-loader’s Health+ anti-bacteria filter, which prevents the growth of bacteria and helps clothes maintain their color and brightness by reducing abrasion during the wash cycle. By using a plastic filter instead of linen, LG’s washer also increases longevity and convenience. Finally, the Health+ filter ensures that the water in the drum is cleaner, and that the unit is much faster and easier to clean than older models.
A major advance from conventional washers, which had to be disassembled in order to clean the tub, the new top-loaders allow consumers to clean the inner and outer tub with the push of a button. By enabling easier, more frequent cleans, the tub-cleaning function helps prevent the growth of mildew — which can be an irritant to skin — while eliminating stubborn odors within the tub.
“Consumers have become aware of health-conscious features in their home appliances,” said Raymond Hernandez, corporate marketing head of LG Electronics Philippines. “By listening to what our customers want, LG is committed to incorporating more health-conscious features into its products. This is especially so in the Philippines, where our customers are increasingly looking for products that are both functional, and provide higher standards of hygiene and good health.”
Some LG’s top-loading washers include an additional kilogram of capacity, in the same compact form of previous models, and a new deep clean waterfall system, so-called “3-Way Waveforce” that cleans clothes more gently. An upgraded array of sensors, improved air drying system and easy-to-clean lint filter make for even cleaner clothes, while reducing the time spent doing laundry.
Special vents in the top cover allow the washer to draw in extra air during the spin cycle. The addition of these vents significantly improves drying power, meaning that clothes spend less time on the line or in the dryer. The washer is capable of drying cotton garments 64 percent faster than before, and can dry blends up to 86 percent faster. This not only makes for faster drying, but a makes ironing easier, too.
LG originally designed its top-loading washers to meet the sophisticated tastes of Filipino consumers, and has now added convenient touches such as a transparent window that makes it easy to see how well clothes are being cleaned. Built with consumer safety in mind, this transparent window is made with tempered glass, which is safer and break-resistant.
