Go for the gold - and the good - in Debenhams menswear

MANILA, Philippines - This summer season, Debenhams introduces the FiveG range by renowned British Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave, available exclusively at Debenhams’ own brand Maine Menswear. Sir Steve Redgrave, five-time Olympic gold medalist, has teamed up with Debenhams to create a range of high-quality men’s clothing made from Fairtrade certified cotton exclusively available at Debenhams’ Maine Menswear collection. This fantastic collaboration is exclusive to Debenhams.

When Sir Steve Redgrave first visited Africa in 2005, he was so affected by the plight of the local population that he dedicated himself and his company, FiveG, to sourcing only Fairtrade cotton. Many farmers and workers in developing countries struggle to provide for their families. Poor market access and unfair trade rules often mean that the price they get for their crops does not cover the cost of production. Fairtrade certification is a rapidly growing international system which aims to improve the terms of trade and increase access to international markets for farmers and workers in the developing world. The Fairtrade mark guarantees that disadvantaged farmers and workers are getting a better deal, and receiving a fair and stable price for their cotton.

FiveG also raises funds for the Steve Redgrave Trust. The small-scale cotton farmers also receive a Fairtrade premium; extra money that is set aside to be spent by farmer organizations on business, social and environmental projects such as healthcare, education or organic conversion.

Visit Debenhams, located at the third level of Shangri-La Plaza Mall and at the third level of Rustan’s Makati Glorietta 4. Also visit Debenhams’ newest branch at the second level of TriNoma.
