MANILA, Philippines — Since its soft opening in March this year, Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu has taken broad strides in redefining luxe resort ideals for Cebuanos and visitors to Cebu.
The five-star beachfront resort is the centerpiece of the 10-hectare AmiSa mixed-use complex by Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC), nestled at the northwestern tip of the Punta Engaño stretch in Mactan Island. Its west-facing setting gifts visitors and guests breathtaking sunset views of the Magellan Bay and Hilutungan Channel.
Built from a partnership between RLC and the Thailand-based Dusit International hospitality group, the months-old resort takes pride in how it merges the inimitable qualities of Cebuano hospitality with that of Thailand’s — evinced through its distinct take on warm and personable service.
Currently operating two of its three signature restaurants and accepting bookings to 70 of its 272 rooms and suites, the following are quick takes on some of the resort’s noteworthy fixtures and amenities — highlights as it gears for its grand opening in late 2019.
On breathtaking views and picturesque scenes
Greeting guests upon entering the resort is its spacious lobby lounge dubbed “The View,” a high ceiling space that incorporates elements of Asian artisanal craftsmanship with contemporary takes on eastern stick-style architectural themes.
Within the lobby’s frame of view is an ethereal strip of aquamarine rendered by the Magellan Bay and Hilutungan Channel — a scenic backdrop that sets an idyllic tenor to Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu’s 100-meter infinity pool.

This picturesque framing can be viewed from the resort’s well-appointed guest rooms, which are housed in three buildings, and can further be taken in by walking through the resort’s boardwalk promenade, which runs below and adjacent to the pool.
The sight of the bodies of water that course between Mactan Island and the Cebu mainland can also be enjoyed in the resort’s signature restos, “Sea Breeze” and “Sunset Bar,” both located next to the lobby lounge.
A haven for gourmets and gourmands
With seasonally inspired menus and bold entrées, Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu takes pride in the delectable range of dishes that can be savored in its international cuisine-themed Sea Breeze restaurant, the sports bar-cum-gastro pub-themed Sunset Bar and the soon-to-open Thai-cuisine themed Benjarong Thai Restaurant.
With all of its dishes prepared with only the freshest of ingredients, the resort’s restos raise the bar in terms of dining in style. Adventurous palates get to sate gastronomic fancies with dishes that are familiar and samplings of popular local fare.

Setting new benchmarks in event spaces
With six event venues, Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu sets new benchmarks in Mactan in terms of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibits (MICE).
The largest of its events spaces, the 1,235-sqm Dusit Ballroom, can accommodate gatherings of up to a thousand (for a cocktail setup; 600 for banquets), and it also highlights an outdoor events space dubbed the “Sky Garden,” which is perfect for outdoor-themed receptions, fitness-oriented gatherings and the like.
Completing the resort’s roster of highlights are its Namm Spa, D-Fit gym equipped with a range of top-of-the-line fitness equipment, a dive center, kids’ zone and a soon-to-be-completed water dock.
The water dock is primed as an alternative mode of access for guests to get to and from the resort — a waypoint that links to the Mactan marina, which is roughly a 15-minute drive from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
