MANILA, Philippines - Cheesecakes are usually served dense and sweet in the “New York style” that most people are familiar with. However, Uncle Tetsu introduced a Japanese take on this well-loved dessert, resulting in freshly baked, light and fluffy cheesecakes that are easy on the palate and melt in the mouth.
Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes are characterized by an imprint of the company’s logo: a cartoon caricature rendition of Uncle Tetsu, which also doubles as a stamp of approval to assure buyers that their purchase has met quality standards.
TetsushiMizokami was five years old when his parents opened a bakery in 1951. Fast-forward to 1990 and he opened his own bakery in Fukuoka, Japan. He went on to concentrate on his bestseller, which brings us to the Uncle Tetsu we know and love today.
Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes are baked for at least 45 minutes and served nearly straightaway to its buyer, fresh from the oven.
Uncle Tetsu’s classic cheesecakes come in two sizes: mini (P99), and original size (P299), the most popular choices for buyers. Uncle Tetsu has created other goodies, which include a selection of cheese tarts and pastry puffs.
The cheese tarts come in two variations: classic signature (P275), and baked with Oreo (P325). The classic signature tarts are composed of a flaky piecrust with a cheesy and creamy filling in the center. The Oreo version has a layer of Oreo added to the creamy and cheesy filling. The cheese tarts also come in mini sizes (P49).
Uncle Tetsu is also known for its pastry puffs (P49). This light dessert snack is made with thin filo pastry, baked with a choice of original custard, mango, and chocolate fillings, and dusted off with powdered sugar.
