What’s on the Menu? Tour de France at Sofitel Philippine Plaza

MANILA, Philippines - Sofitel Philippine Plaza offers exciting French specialties with its “Tour de France at Spiral.” A special menu prepared for the historical milestone has been prepared by Sofitel’s regional chef for Asia Pacific and Sofitel Philippine Plaza executive chef Eric Costille. This culinary experience includes dishes from chateaux of Brittany until July 21 and from Savoy from July 22 to 28.   Sofitel also presents a photo exhibition, “BB Forever — Brigitte Bardot, la légende.” The exhibit, conceived in collaboration with journalist and writer Henry-Jean Servat, traces the life of the famous French actress.  Sofitel Philippine Plaza holds this exhibit from July 31 to Sept. 10 at the Le Bar.

Japanese comfort food at Traders Hotel

 Traders Hotel, Manila’s authentic Japanese cuisine restaurant Kitsho Japanese Restaurant and Sake Bar offers Japanese comfort food.  Dishes include crispy ebi tempura, lightly battered and deep-fried, served with hot tentsuyu (tempura dipping sauce), or the special bento box with steamed Japanese rice, two kinds of sashimi, green salad, Japanese omelet, appetizer, miso soup, mugicha and a choice of chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, tore karaage or saba shioyaki for the main dish. Other dishes are take nigiri (sushi) and sashimi, unaju and yakitori (marinated chicken grilled on skewers), katsudon, or the salmon teppanyaki. In addition, diners can order Kitsho’s sukiyaki or spicy negi ramen.  Price starts at only P220+.

 Nanbantei of Tokyo offers four new dishes: Momo ninniku, two skewers of grilled chicken thigh with garlic; chikuwa yaki, rolled grilled seafood; kaki yaki, two sticks of grilled Japanese oysters; and Azuki green tea, a scoop of green tea ice cream on a moat of red bean sauce.

For appetizers choose from Wings Over Buffalo (chicken “drumettes” tossed in spicy Buffalo wing sauce served with bleu cheese dressing), Southwestern Eggrolls (a crispy flour tortilla filled with smoked chicken, black beans, corn, jalapeño Jack cheese, red peppers and spinach served with avocado-ranch dressing) and Texas Cheese Poppers (mini cheese poppers, green onions and cilantro, all rolled into specially seasoned breading and lightly fried until golden brown.
