MANILA, Philippines - Crowne Plaza offers its Journey to Switzerland at Seven Corners until May 31. Swiss executive chef Angelo Faoro offers regional classics such as fondue, raclette, Appenzell pork and desserts made from the Swiss chocolates. The selection features Zurig Schnatzlets (veal in cream sauce), baby spinach salad with Swiss cheese crisps and scallops in Swiss cheese sauce, to name a few. There are also Italian, French and German-influenced Swiss dishes like assorted sausages — Keilbasa, Italian and Frankfurter, sauerkraut and pommes de terre au lard. For dessert, there’s a Swiss chocolate fondue with various choices of accompaniments like fresh and dried fruits, cookies, candies and marshmallows, svens schoggikuchen (wet chocolate cake), and chocolate kuchen.

Smokin’ Chicken BarBQ at Smokin’ Hot BarBQ
The Bistro Group’s new homegrown restaurant concept, Smokin’ Hot BarBQ is a 140-seater restaurant at level 3, Greenbelt 3. At Smokin’ Hot BarBQ, there’s a delectable array of salads like the salted egg salad, pako (fern leaves), green mangoes and blanched leafy greens like kangkong and malunggay. The vinegar-soaked kilawin na tuna is wrapped in banana leaf. Other dishes include kuhol sa gata, spicy escargots in coconut cream and chilis, grilled crispy bacon belly and pork sisig wraps, beef shank bulalo, tinolang manok, sinampalukang manok and sinigang na baka served in stone bowls. The Smokin’ BarBQ Chicken is a signature recipe of the restaurant, flavored with a secret mixture of sauces and spices that gives the meat its sweet aroma and intense flavor. Desserts include caramelized banana, biko and the Turon 2.0 with homemade sugar snap cones and topped with banana ice cream with banana compote.

Flaming Potence at Chateau 1771
In celebration of its 25th year anniversary, Chateau 1771 is offering two special treats from May 18 to 31, featuring one-of-a kind dishes by executive chef, Vicky Rose Pacheco. The two menus are available with a glass of wine for P990 net. The first dish is raclette, melted Swiss cheese with marbled potatoes, pickled onions and gherkins and Potence steak seasoned, robust and tender, dressed in its natural juices then whisked with some brandy. The second dish includes French onion soup, Caesar salad, pasta chorizo, lemon chicken, Potence and coffee pie. The second menu is available for hotel and restaurant management students and 2013 HRIM graduates at P550 net from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for every group of four.
Chateau 1771 is at Greenbelt 5 and is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to 12 m.n. on Friday to Saturday.
