MANILA, Philippines - Its mysterious darkness arouses one’s curiosity. A huge pan of black rice glistens with morsels of succulent seafood and slices of egg. O’sonho’s black paella, like all its other paellas, is simply too good to pass up. It makes a greedy woman out of me. Fact is, I can’t resist diving my spoon in it even before squeezing the lemon.
In all its Portuguese glory, O’sonho has, once again, come up with a myriad of gastronomic delights that will give its growing number of hungry patriots sheer satisfaction. The favorites, of course, remain. Who can resist the moist and flavorful peri peri chicken and the coffee-marinated roast pork? But then again, you should make room for some of the newest delights from O’sonho’s kitchen.
The duck salad with lychees is very refreshing. It is a surprising blend of watercress tossed in a light soy vinaigrette and served with slightly crisp slices of roasted duck and whole lychees. Then there’s the lemony shrimp salad, made with crisp romaine lettuce, chives, cherry tomatoes, and sautéed prawns tossed in a lemon vinaigrette.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese baby back ribs are a true stunner. Succulent, flavorful, and tender, these ribs are served with O’sonho’s signature whipped potatoes. Likewise, the restaurant serves up a delightful penne with salmon puttanesca that’s filled with fresh morsels of Norwegian salmon with olives and capers.
For dessert, O’sonho introduces its decadent custard tarts or pasteis de nata. These are delicate tarts made of buttery, flaky crusts filled with luscious custard. I would personally enjoy this warm with a freshly brewed cup of Malonggo gourmet coffee.
Yes, rediscover the pleasures of Portuguese dining at O’sonho!
