A healthy pandesal snack

MANILA, Philippines – Olsen’s was the first bakery to offer the healthy whole wheat pandesal. Whole wheat flour has a sweet, nutty flavor and is made from the entire wheat kernel. A wheat kernel is made up of three main components, the bran, endosperm, and germ. The bran contains most of the fiber and minerals, including vitamins B and E. The bulk of the wheat kernel is composed of the endosperm and contains most of the protein and carbohydrates, and wheat germ is considered one of the top 10 healthiest foods for a balanced diet because it is such a good source of many essential vitamins, minerals and healthy fats.

Beans and Bacon on Toast

cup bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, minced

1 big can pork and beans

   freshly ground black pepper

4 pieces Olsen’s Whole Wheat Pandesal, sliced and toasted

Cook bacon in a frying pan till crisp. Pour off the oil and sauté onion till soft. Add pork and beans and simmer for two minutes. Add freshly ground black pepper and spoon over Olsen’s Whole Wheat Pandesal.
