Keira and Gisele reveal their beauty secrets to Chanel

Coco’s girls: Actress Keira Knightley gets made up in Chanel Beauty Talks’ second episode, “Getting Into Character.”

Want to know how Gisele Bundchen achieves her “no-makeup” healthy glow and Keira Knightley gets into character with cosmetics?

The answers are in “Chanel Beauty Talks,” a series of short films on YouTube in which Lucia Pica, Chanel’s global creative makeup and color designer, gets these two great beauties of our time to reveal their makeup secrets and favorite products.

Did you know, for example, that supermodel Gisele, who freely admits to being a tomboy as a teen, draws her freckles back on after applying Chanel Healthy Glow foundation?

Or that Oscar-nominated actress Keira thinks she has “enormous eyebrows” that have to be brushed, and uses her fingers to apply makeup because it makes her feel like a kid again?

In Chanel Beauty Talks, now on its second episode — with outtakes of less than a minute that feature additional makeup tips from Pica — you’ll glimpse Keira and Gisele completely bare-faced, but still so preternaturally stunning that you can see why the French brand chose the Pride & Prejudice star to be the face of Coco Mademoiselle fragrance and Rouge Coco lipstick, while the Brazilian supermodel represents for Chanel No. 5 and the Les Beiges line of natural-toned makeup.

Knightley admits she habitually removes herself from reality in order to inhabit a powerful character (she idolizes strong, Old Hollywood actresses like Katharine Hepburn and Bette Davis): “My idea of beauty is something that is totally true to itself,” she says. “The women that I recognize — that I maybe want to be — really glory in the emotional turmoil and the surprising twists and turns that are part of a woman’s life.”

Bundchen says she’s a “nature girl” who feels better the less makeup she has on: “My mom wasn’t really a makeup person — she wore mascara and blush, and funny enough, that’s my favorite things, blush and mascara!”

Pica takes both from au naturel to fully made up, and the Chanel cosmetics they use to achieve the looks are listed at the end of the videos. “Modern (makeup) is (using) less,” advises Pica, who tells Keira that Coco Chanel used to say, “Put your red lipstick on and attack.”

Knightley counters, “It’s an amazing idea, isn’t it? It’s very true because if I’ve had a bad day, then the only thing to do is put red lipstick on and go out into the world.”
