MANILA, Philippines - Solo presents the sixth installment of its Pinoy Cartoonist Memorabilia Series, which debuted in 2010. Every year, Solo brings people back to the days when komiks used to be a huge part of the Pinoy entertainment.
The brand features Roni Santiago’s “Baltic & Co.,” a hilarious Pinoy comic strip about a hotheaded boss “Baltic” and his employees. It is also the longest-running Filipino comic strip. Created by Roni Santiago in the 1970s, it is still ongoing and is serialized in a broadsheet right up to this day.
Roni Santiago is a graduate of BS Architecture at Feati University. He loved to read comic strips by American and Filipino cartoonists back in the day before he started creating his own. The works of Larry Alcala also inspired him and was such a big influence. When asked what his main goal was behind creating “Baltic & Co.,” he said he did it with the sole purpose of entertaining readers.
The strip features characters such as Mr. Baltic the boss, Miss Tapia the cashier, Mr. Golem the accountant, clerks Tom and Bong, down to Dyani the janitor. Their jokes are based on the day-to-day office scene humor that captures what really happens in real life.
This fun and comical collection by Solo is composed of collared tees decked in all-over prints, humorously drawn characters, and some amusing comic strip scenes. Solo also offers graphic tees, dresses, bottoms and matching his-and-hers couple shirts in eye-catching and fun prints that everyone, especially the youth, will definitely enjoy. Cool gift items also available for the holidays.
