MANILA, Philippines - Opposing mixtures and out-of-the-fashion-box are in focus as River Island bares its 2014 autumn-winter collection while exuding modernism.
For fashionable Gen-X men, skinny denims come in different forms like classic light washes, with leather shearling and even tartans. A monochrome and minimalist palette creates a slick finish evident with the signature sharp silhouettes combined with shine and textural fabrication or elongated shapes with featured zips and studs. Punchy prints draw inspiration from the ’60s vibe.
Geometric prints can be found together with wool and leather while metallic fabrics, oversized patterns, printed textures and pop art provide a modern tweak for urban street wear.
For women, River Island presents patterns like checks, winter florals, and animal prints for autumnal tones with splashes of bright, metallic hues. Checks blend with floral prints, while popcorn-motif sweats are teamed with a leopard-inspired fur coat.
The collection sees a warm combination of florals and oversized checks for that avant-garde bohemian air. Army green tones meld with the metallic and knitwear, making it River Island’s take on urban luxury. White on white, white with bleached, gray-washed or skinny white denims are key elements.
Smart masculine items in industrial colors blend well with wide-legged trousers and oversized cowl-neck knits. Noir pieces, meanwhile, exude decadence and glamour in a more dramatic palette of black and gold with a hint of gothic.
