MANILA, Philippines - Topshop’s recent collaboration with Adidas Originals proves how sportswear continues making in-roads to high fashion.
The “Topshop x Adidas†collection, with re-imagined heritage icons, redefines classics. Track vests feature dramatically scooped armholes and casual pants and jackets are tailored to a slim fit.
“Topshop and Adidas Originals working together is a total celebration of the greatness of fashion and sportswear and how important and influential they are to each other. We wanted to bring some femininity to the range and make the collection fit with fashion staples,†explains Kate Phelan, Topshop’s creative director.
Showcased in the 20-piece collection are tactile fabrics and silky, ultrafine cupro plus lightweight tricot that add a feel to hoodies and “all in ones†that are hip and hot. While color-blocked cotton panels find its way to vests and tees that are seen combined with printed mesh, super-soft French terry update classic basketball pieces spots the charming contrast of draped jerseys. There is a strong aesthetic encounter between sexy and slouchy fits that perfectly coexist side-by-side.
Footwear also features three Originals favorites: the Superstar, the Tech Super and the Attitude are recreated in luxury leathers. Signature prints dominate in soft corals, field green and gritty monochromes.
Characterized by minimalist styling and London infused motifs, the collaboration celebrates Topshop’s love for London and Adidas’ reputation as the ultimate sports label in British street culture.
