On a recent trip, I noticed that the colors for spring 2013 — as shown in the window displays of Prada, Louis Vuitton and other top fashion houses — are black and white. A perennial choice of stylish women as it has transcended the test of time — stark contrasts, yet complement each other.
Intelligent, lovely and muy graciosa Cristina Santos Gomez celebrated her 30th birthday at the Buddha Bar with black and white as theme. When asked why she chose this color combination, she mentioned that her inspiration came from the very chichi 1966 masquerade ball that author Truman Capote gave in honor of the powerful Katharine Graham of the Washington Post.
Educated in the Philippines (Poveda and the University of Asia and the Pacific) as well as the Instituto Marangoni in Milan, Italy where she graduated with honors, Cristina works with the Lifestyle Asia magazine, which is one of the oldest magazines in town, and yet she is one of the youngest social editors.
I enjoyed seeing the party guests in the requested color attire and decided to ask a number of my fashionable friends to let us take a peek into their closets so that they can share their favorite black and white dresses.
