SoFA moves to fashionable Enzo Building

MANILA, Philippines - SoFA Design Institute, the country's first specialized fashion and design college, marks its fifth anniversary this year. In line with this, the school — solely dedicated to nurturing the design talents of the Philippines — has expanded into a new, larger and modern campus to accommodate its numerous fashion and interior design programs.

The SoFA Design Institute campus is located strategically along one of Makati’s busiest avenues, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, which is also slowly emerging as a fashion and design business district whose neighbors include the corporate offices of the various brands of Rustan’s, SSI, and the newest online hotspot Zalora. The campus boasts a striking glass facade at the ground floor of the Enzo Building. On a typical day, passersby on Gil Puyat Ave. will get a glimpse of the world of a design school. One may witness students working on sketches, draping, and perhaps even a fashion show on a given time of day.

The new campus, by interior designer Ivy Almario, is a modern haven that stimulates creativity and inspiration. The new facilities now include two lecture rooms, a drafting room, pattern lab, makeup studio, sewing lab, student lounge, and a glass-enclosed library right at the heart of the campus.

SoFA hopes for it to be a creative hub where designers, students, practitioners from various fields can mingle, interact and exchange ideas. SoFA envisions it to be a breeding ground for innovative ideas, and to make design a positive force in society and the economy.

The two-day campus launch celebration culminated with an after party at Opus, Resorts World Manila. The party brought together the SoFA community: the founders, school administrators, and students.
