MANILA, Philippines - Anything goes, as everybody now knows (what with the new youth movement making its presence felt on our shores). Human’s latest collection echoes that vibe, with its wide range of prints and colors, the perfect wardrobe for throw-it-on insouciance.
Call it careless, call it unstudied, or call it effortless, singular style. Take a cue from the generation’s self-proclaimed hipsters, and pile print upon print, light layer upon light layer, and tuck all those into requisite short shorts or low-slung trousers.
The key is to make the old new again: nautical navy and white, reinterpreted as a pattern clash of a striped tank and a dotted skirt. Summer’s regulation florals, but on denim shorts. Colored short shorts, in jade, or canary yellow, juxtaposed with beige and black rock-star layers. And a solid, hot-hued maxi dress, worn rogue with undone boots and a floppy hat.
What you should try doing is not to try at all: Boys can go for grayscale, with a tee and jeans, tucked into sneakers; or for more color, an illustrated shirt, with dark denims. For a cockneyish feel, don a hat and throw on a buttoned shirt, but keep it open.
This summer, being Human is all about hanging loose.
The collections are now available at all Human stores.
